My mom made this once every few months, I see why. It's expensive, rich and time consuming. ALSO, DELICIOUS. Thanks Mom.
Ingredients:
- box of Lasagna noodles
- 1 jar of (your choice) Prego
- 1 lb. ground beef
- shredded mozzarella cheese
- shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 diced white onion
- diced mushrooms (optional)
- Ricotta cheese
- Cottage cheese
- Cumin, Garlic salt, Pepper, Onion powder, Garlic powder & Paprika for meat seasoning
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Cook ground beef and then add in diced onion and mushrooms. Add all seasonings and stir. Cook until done. Drain grease and pour in Prego sauce. Let simmer.
- Put cottage cheese and ricotta cheese in large bowl for mixing. (I'll check measurements next time, but it's the large tub of cottage cheese and large tub of ricotta cheese). Mix well and season with salt and pepper.
- In a casserole dish, preferably a deeper one, add a couple spoonful of sauce.
- Now start layering as such, Lasagna noodles (uncooked btw), spread sauce over noodles, add cheese mixture and spread, then add a handful or so of Mozzarella cheese, add a sprinkle of cheddar cheese for color. Repeat. I think I layered 3 times. A little bit of each mixture goes a long way.
- Once finished, cover with tinfoil and add to oven.
- Bake for 1 hour and a half.
- Remove from oven and remove foil to see the cheesy goodness.
- Slice in thick squares and enjoy with salad or breadsticks.
