I can't believe making donuts at home is THIS easy! Get creative with the toppings too!
Ingredients:
- 1 package of refrigerated biscuits, (not flaky kind)
- 2-4 cups of vegetable oil
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 tbs hot water
- 2 tbs hot milk
- cinnamon & sugar mixed together for tossing donuts (optional)
Directions:
- In large saucepan or pot, heat oil to 375 degrees. Set a paper towel down on a cooling rack for the donuts to come out and lay on after frying. Have another cooling rack or plate ready for after glazing too.
- Open biscuits and cut a hole in the center using something round. I used an oil lid. Set those little rounds aside, later for donut holes.
- Make glaze before frying donuts. Mix together the powdered sugar, vanilla, water and milk until smooth. If it is too runny add more powdered sugar, if too dry, add a bit more water.
- When oil is hot, drop in one biscuit (at a time). Flip when the bottom starts turning golden. The whole thing should cook for almost 2 minutes.
- Remove from oil with slotted spoon and set on paper towel to drip excess oil.
- While still warm, dip the donut into the glaze, on both sides. Set on rack or plate. Repeat. You can also coat the PLAIN DONUT in the sugar cinnamon mix. I also added a few sprinkles to a few glazed ones. Set to dry.
