Another item bites the dust off my grocery list. I've never ever had a hotdog bun like this! This recipe came from 1-Hour Hot Dog Buns, Homemade Hot Dog Buns | Jenny Can Cook
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (aerated before measuring)
- 2 tsp. yeast
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tbs sugar
- 1 cup whole milk 120 degrees warm
- 2 tbs vegetable oil
- 1 egg (room temp)
- 1/4 cup additional flour
- 1 beaten egg for the egg wash
Directions:
- Combine flour, yeast, salt and sugar in large mixing bowl.
- Stir in the warm milk, then the oil and egg.
- Beat on high for 2 minutes, you can also use your hands. Just get in there!
- Add 1/4 cup of flour. A dough should be forming.
- Place dough on floured surface and knead 150 times.
- Cover and let rest for 10 minutes. Grease a baking sheet with non-stick spray.
- Cut dough into 8 equal pieces. With floured hands, press each piece into a 4x6 rectangle. From the 6-inch side roll up tightly into a log. Tuck in the ends.
- Place seam side down on baking sheet and cover. Let rest for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Just before baking, brush each bun with the egg wash.
- Bake for 12 minutes.
- Remove and place on rack.
