This recipe comes from 'Baked by an Introvert' and it involves a crockpot!
Ingredients for dough:
- 1 packet of active dry yeast
- 5 cups of all purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 1/4 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 2 large lightly beaten eggs
Ingredients for Coating:
- 3/4 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
Directions:
- Line a 6-quart slow cooker with parchment paper and spray with cooking oil.
- Combine warm water & 1 tbs of the sugar. Stir in the yeast and set aside for 5 minutes.
- In large bowl, stir together 2 cups of flour, remaining sugar and salt. Add yeast mixture, warm milk, melted butter and beaten eggs. Mix on low until combined. Add remaining flour and beat on low until a soft dough forms. (I'm using my hands.) 10-15 minutes. The dough will be ready when it longer sticks to the sides of the bowl. Should feel soft but not sticky. Let it rest on floured surface for 10 minutes.
Make the coating~
- Melt butter in a small bowl and set aside. In a different bigger bowl, mix together sugars and cinnamon, set aside.
- Pinch off 2 tablespoon sized portions of dough and shape into balls. Roll each one in melted butter and then into the sugar mixture.
- Arrange dough balls in the bottom of the prepared slow cooker. Layer 'em up.
- Place a double paper towel under the lid to prevent water dripping on the dough.
- Cook on HIGH for just under 2 hours.
- Once done, flip over onto a cooling rack and enjoy.
* Can be enjoyed for 5 days if kept in the refrigerator.
