Danni's Chalupa Shells

If Taco Bell's Beef Chalupas are one of your favorites, you definitely should make this. MAKES AT LEAST 9!!

Ingredients: 

  • 3 cups all purpose flour 
  • 1.5 tbs baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tbs melted butter
  • 1 1/4 cup milk
  • oil for frying

Directions:

  1. In bowl mix flour, baking powder, salt and melted butter. Mix well.
  2. Add milk to flour mix, form, knead into soft dough.
  3. Cover and set aside for about 20 minutes.
  4. Once rested, form 9 to 13 equal sized balls of dough. Roll out to resemble size of a tortilla almost, poke with a fork multiple times.
  5. Heat skillet with oil, slide Chalupa bread into HOT oil. Should puff & 'float' for 30 seconds.
  6. Use tongs to flip & gently fold dough in half like a taco. (May need a spatula for extra help with forming). Hold dough that way for 30 seconds, roll to other side to fully cook.
  7. Remove from oil and drain excess oil on paper towel or rack.
  8. Eat as is, or fill with your favorite taco recipe (WHICH I WILL HAVE FOR YOU TOO😉)
