If Taco Bell's Beef Chalupas are one of your favorites, you definitely should make this. MAKES AT LEAST 9!!
Ingredients:
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1.5 tbs baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tbs melted butter
- 1 1/4 cup milk
- oil for frying
Directions:
- In bowl mix flour, baking powder, salt and melted butter. Mix well.
- Add milk to flour mix, form, knead into soft dough.
- Cover and set aside for about 20 minutes.
- Once rested, form 9 to 13 equal sized balls of dough. Roll out to resemble size of a tortilla almost, poke with a fork multiple times.
- Heat skillet with oil, slide Chalupa bread into HOT oil. Should puff & 'float' for 30 seconds.
- Use tongs to flip & gently fold dough in half like a taco. (May need a spatula for extra help with forming). Hold dough that way for 30 seconds, roll to other side to fully cook.
- Remove from oil and drain excess oil on paper towel or rack.
- Eat as is, or fill with your favorite taco recipe (WHICH I WILL HAVE FOR YOU TOO😉)
ENJOY!!
