Danni's Green Butter 😉

Anything that needs butter, needs this groovy butter.

Ingredients:

  • 28 grams dried cannabis flower, trim or kief
  • 18 - 20 tbs unsalted butter

Directions:

This is a recipe for an Instant Pot / Pressure Cooker. Get one. Okay on with the recipe.

  1. Place the cannabis into a mason jar and add a lid. Lightly but tightly secure the lid. Do not make it TOO tight.
  2. Place the jar into the Instant Pot with the steamer basket.
  3. Add 4 cups of water or enough to cover the jar almost halfway.
  4. Set the Instant Pot to cook on a high pressure for 40 minutes.
  5. After time is done, carefully release the steam pressure from the vent. Remove jars once steam has stopped, set aside to cool slightly. The butter goes in better when still warm.
  6. When cool enough to handle, add butter to jar and secure with lid. Once again, not to tight. Place jar(s) back in the steamer basket in the Instant Pot.
  7. Select the SLOW COOK mode and LOW for 4 hours.
  8. Once closer to the butter being done, set up what you need to strain the butter from the cannabis. Cheesecloth works great. Once I ran out of that I started using my small, fine sifting strainer. The cheesecloth and coffee filters help really well with squeezing the pulp to make sure you get all the butter! Don't skimp out on the pulp. I use a Pyrex measuring cup (2 cup max) to pour the butter through the strainer and catch. That cup makes it easier and mess free when pouring into the containers. Okay, on with the recipe.
  9. Once time goes off, remove jars and let cool for a little bit. Long enough not to burn your hands when straining.
  10. Once cool enough, strain butter through your choice of method. Strain well. You can squeeze the pulp through a coffee filter too. Toss the pulp into the garbage.
  11. Pour your strained butter into the container(s) you're going to store it in. NOT A JAR! It will be way too hard to remove the water from it when you need to. Place the butter after it's in its container into the fridge for it to solidify.
  12. You will know the butter is completely cooled because it will be a gorgeous green color now. Once cooled remove from container and drain off water and milk solids. I use a butter knife to scrape off the bottom of my butter. It does the job.
  13. Place butter back into a container or it's ready to use.
  14. Use by the butter's expiration date.
