I wish I could sleep on these, then again, I really like eating them too.
Ingredients:
- 4 1/2 cups flour
- 2 packets active yeast
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 1/4 cup warm milk
- 4 tbs butter softened
- 1 egg room temperature
- 2 tbs butter melted for brushing
Directions:
- In small bowl, add warm milk, yeast and a pinch of sugar. Let bubble for 5 - 10 minutes.
- In large bowl stir together 3 cups of flour, sugar and salt.
- Add milk mixture, egg and softened butter to the bowl of flour. Stir and mix well, scraping any flour bits off the sides and back down into the bowl.
- Add 1/2 cup of flour, mix and repeat. It should not be super sticky at the end result.
- Place in a greased bowl and cover with a towel. Let rise in a warm place for 45 minutes.
- Deflate with a light punch and turn over to a non-floured surface. Pinch off 20 equal sized pieces and form into balls.
- Place on a lightly greased 9x13 casserole dish. Cover with a towel and let rise for 30 minutes in a warm spot.
- Bake in oven at 375 degrees for 15-17 minutes, until golden on top.
- Brush hot rolls with 2 tbs melted butter and serve immediately.
