Danni's (Take On) Hamburger Buns

I'm never buying hamburger buns again. This recipe comes from (My Homemade Roots)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tbs active dry yeast
  • 3 tbs canola oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 1/2 - 4 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tbs sugar
  • 2 tbs melted butter

 

Directions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, stir in yeast, oil and sugar into warm water. Let sit for 5 - 10 minutes, until frothy.
  2. Whisk in egg & salt.
  3. Stir in flour using 3 cups at first. Add 1/4 cup until a soft dough forms.
  4. Turn dough onto floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes. Dough should be smooth and elastic. 
  5. When no longer sticky, divide into 12 equal parts (regular sized burgers) or (8 for some jumbo burgers). Shape each piece into a slightly flattened ball. 
  6. Place on greased baking sheets, 3" apart. Let rise for 15 minutes, should have doubled in size. 
  7. Heat oven to 425 degrees.
  8. Bake for 8 - 12 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Place buns on wire rack after baking and brush with melted butter immediately.
  10. Allow to almost cool entirely before slicing!
